Apni gal main aap sunavan teerath barhe nahaye ne;
Uchchiyan uchchiyan hekan de naal path vi sune sunaye ne.
Dharm sthana te main ja ja daan punn karvaye ne;
Kise na kujh vi sojhi pai matthe barhe ghasaaye ne.
Poora murshad milya aisa ikko gal samjhai ey;
Kahe avtar eh ikko gal hi dil de vich vasaai ey.

I narrate my own story: I bathed at several places of pilgrimage;
I heard and recited the holy scriptures with loud voice.
I visited a number of religious places and made generous donations;
Nobody could, however, reveal God to me, although I rubbed my forehead before so
many.
As I met the perfect True Master, he made me understand only one thing;
Avtar says, and that one thing (the Divine Knowledge) dwells in my heart.

Meaning
In this verse, Shehenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji talks about his life before taking God-Knowledge. Baba Ji says he took baths at many religious places, and heard and read religious books in loud voices. Baba Ji further says he went to many religious places, gave donations, and rubbed his head at many religious places. But no one was able to show him God. Only when he met the True Master (Baba Buta Singh Ji) he was blessed with God-Knowledge, which filled his heart with the only One (God).
